Now, we get 5 days at home in Connecticut and then we're off to Pittsburgh, Loveland, Dallas, and then to Allentown. This is one of our favorite long road trips, not so much for the scenery as for the stops. We get to stop in Cleveland which has the Best Laser Tag place ever.
I know that laser tag doesn't have much in common with beads or fiber, but it has everything to do with driving to Colorado to go to YarnFest. Daxton, the Bead Biz Kid, is celebrating his 7th birthday on this trip and one of the things he asked for is to spend 2 days at his favorite laser tag place. (His actual natal day is April 1st, and we'll be spending that with friends in Dallas.)
So, where are we going to be when we're not at laser tag? Mostly in the car ;)
Our first stop is the

We'll start up going to shows again in January, but before we say goodbye to the 2018 show year, you have one more chance to get all the beads, kits, and tools you need.
We'll be at the Maryland Alpaca and Fleece Festival in West Friendship this coming weekend.

Come by and stock up for the winter!
We are going to do two shows this weekend, The New England Fiber Festival and Stitches SoCal. How will we accomplish this witchcraft? Glad you asked! Esther and Jean Elizabeth will be in Springfield, Mass for The Fiber Festival of New England and our wonderful employee Cecillie will be in Pasadena.
Cecillie will have the shawls Ice Rain, which is knit, and Nymphaea which can be done as a knit or a crochet project. As well as a ton of brand new beads!
We are participating in the Scavenger Hunt this year!
All you need to do to participate is to find the booths which have this picture posted and then scan the QR code and answer the questions in order to be entered into a chance to win a boatload of amazing prizes!
Esther and Jean Elizabeth (and Daxton) will be at THE Fiber Festival of New England in Springfield, Mass. We'll have two amazing shawls of our own!
We'll also have a ton of new beads including a great selection of these brand new square beauties!
Jean Elizabeth will be teaching Learn to Knit with Beads. This is a great class which will show you multiple methods for adding beads to your projects and talk about what beads are good for different types and sizes of fibers. You will start to make a beaded cuff bracelet. It's an easy project that lets you focus on the beads instead of complicated directions. If you knit, you can make this beautiful, sparkly, soft bracelet.
You can still register for the class right here!
We also have it on good authority that Art for Your Feet will have an amazing selection of Tsocks in the booths right next to ours at THE Fiber Festival of New England!

We will be premiering two new shawls. The first one is a knitted lace shawl by Kristi Holaas called Twisted Leaves. Kristi has reworked this pattern and added beads in both the body and the edging of the shawl. The yarn in the kit is a fingering weight mix of cashmere and merino hand-dyed by June Pryce Fibers Arts. The beads in the body are wonderful Czech size 6 beads and along the edge are Japanese Long Magatamas.
The second one is a crochet shawl created for us by Linda Dean called Pilgrimage. This pattern includes two colors of our brand new Square Miyuki Seed Beads. They are so new that they are not even up on the web page yet! (As soon as I get them up, I will include a link here. They are up! You can get them here!) The yarn in this kit is also the cashmere/merino hand-dyed by June Pryce Fiber Arts. This kit has both a neutral gradient and a colorful one to create a great contrast!
Not enough goodies yet? We will also have a special Art For Your Feet Surprise! We will have a rarely seen Tsock-Shawl set. We are not revealing here, so you will have to come to the booth to see what it is! (Hint: The colors are black and red.)
See You at Rhinebeck!
Earlier in year we applied to the Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival. We were lucky enough to get on the wait list and found out this week that we have a spot at the show! We are very excited to bring all our beautiful beads and kits to Virginia!

As many of you know, Hurricane Florence barreled through Wilmington, NC and devastated many homes and business. One of the people who lost her home, her studio, as well as tons of yarn and personal items is our dear friend and designer Mary Beth Temple from Hooked for Life. She has found a place to live, but still needs to replace everything she lost.
We were about to introduce our new line of handmade gourmet chocolates when the hurricane struck, so we have decided to donate all the 2018 profits from the sale of these yummy treats to Mary Beth's Go Fund Me and any profits after that to Peggy Baddour, owner of The Salty Sheep, who lost both her home and her yarn shop. She and her family are working hard to get up and running again. She has already found a new location for the shop, that’s how determined she is to rebuild.
We will have plenty of boxes (about 1/4 pounds each - 18 balls for only $4!) of these amazingly tasty milk chocolates at our upcoming show in Virginia this weekend. We'll even have some samples out for you to try. We hope you will like them and help out some great folks from our community who have been hurt by Hurricane Florence.
So, we hope you send good thoughts to Mary Beth and Peggy and we look forward to seeing you at the Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival!
We've had an amazing summer! We got time at the beach and Disney World (Daxton's first time!), and we had some time to relax at home.
We even helped capture the notorious intergalactic criminal Zurg!
We've also been getting lots of new beads and patterns for you! Here are just a few of our new ones:
We know you want a sneak preview of the new shawls for 2018-2019. Some are still having samples made, but we can show you this:
We can promise you that this year's new patterns and beads are spectacular!

See you soon!
We had a blast meeting so many wonderful new people at DFW and seeing lots of old friends at YarnFest! We'll definitely be back next year!
We have so many things in the works right now. We are working on 2 new shawl kits to debut at Rhinebeck, but you folks haven't seen this years beauties yet.
We are in the process of increasing the variety of Tsock Kits we will have available. Right now we have:
Daughter of the Regimen
Love in Idleness
And there are several in the skeining and dying stages. Keep your eyes peeled.

Despite the rainy forecast, we are looking forward to a great show this weekend and know that ya'll will come out no matter what the weather! Still, it never hurts to cross your fingers and toes and hope for a change in the forecast.

***We will be sharing space with Art For Your Feet***
We're going to be at both YarnFest and the DFW Fiber Festival this year!! We're so excited! We are busy getting ready for an epic road from Connecticut to Dallas to Loveland and back. We have lots of new beads to share with you as well as our exclusive 2018 shawls! We have 3 shawls this year all hand dyed by June Pryce Fiber Arts using merino and cashmere fingering. It's as yummy as it looks and so very soft - mmmm.
What happens when you get a knitter and a crocheter together? They create a shawl that can be either knitted or crocheted! Nymphaea is a collaboration between PDX Kniteratti and Laurdina Reddig. One version is knitted and one is crocheted. Both of them use June Pryce Fiber's yarn which has been dyed to match a set of Bead Biz's beads. The results are amazing!
Once upon a time there was an ice storm and a knit designer. When the storm was over, there was a beautiful pattern called Ice Rain designed by Kristi Holaas. This beaded beauty is your lace project for this year. It has beautiful beads and wonderful drape and comes in several colorways.
We will also have a number of Tsocks from our partner Art For Your Feet including:
(Golden Amber, Irish Red, & Chocolate Stout)
Of course, for those of you who knit socks, yet, we will have the wonderful Tsocks 101 kit which has a wonderfully written guide sock knitting and a skein of AFYF's own Tsilk Tsocking yarn (a blend of long staple US wool and silk with a high hosiery twist especially designed for sock knitting).
If we weren't busy enough this trip, it is also Daxton's (aka The Bead Baby) 6th birthday! Can you believe that he is already 6? We can't. He's been coming with us to fiber shows since he was 2 weeks old and many of you have known him since before he was born. He will be celebrating his birthday just before DFW with some friends in Dallas, but feel free to tell him Happy Birthday when you see him!
Can't wait to see you all!
We're just a couple of bead chicks who found fiber and came over to the dark side. It's OK though, we brought cookies :)
